I am an avid hiker and backcountry camper, so I'm used to carrying my stuff myself, but may consider hiring a guide. But i'm also a frugal traveler with limited income, so I would have to weigh my options very carefully. How would one go about hiring a guide? Can you hire one for just a portion of the trip, like the portion that is extra challenging/difficult to follow? Thanks!

Hola! I just learned about this trail yesterday, researching non-profits and volunteer opportunities in CR. I am an avid hiker, seeking trails around the world to hike. Next on my list: Via Francigena Sud in Italia, Thorsmork in southern Iceland, and this camino! I love Costa Rica and plan to spend the next few years living on the Nicoya peninsula, so this will be a fun side trip during my stay!
