Well, I did the full camino between December 15th 2020 and January 2nd 2021 to celebrate my 70th birthday. It was an unforgettable experience. Each day was different and I enjoyed, birding early in the mornings, great views, wonderful interchanges with local folks, good meals, some terrific ones. The variety of colorful insects and frogs and the variety of flowers were extraordinary. It was challenging. The most challenging day was crossing the indigenous territory: 19.6km with a cumulative 830 meter ascent and 720 descent, crossing 5 rivers. It took me 9 hours but it was wonderful. I would not have wanted to do anything else that day. Each night was a different experience also some more comfortable than other. I enjoyed thermal waters half way in the Orosi Valley which I think was a perfect thing to do that day.
I hired a guide and had a car carrying my things from lodge to lodge. It was wonderful and joyous experience. Moving and Exhilarating, really.
Did you hire guides, or travel it solo? Sounds like a lovely way to celebrate your 70th!! Pura Vida!
